The launch of the Model Home Construction/Repair Contract for use by homeowners and contractors and the signing of the CQA Charter, which have been developed under the Grenada Hurricane Resilient Home Reconstruction Programme, took place at the Agency for Reconstruction and Development (ARD) Conference Room on Tuesday, November 27.
The first person to place a signature on the CQA Charter was Chief Planner in the Physical Planning Unit Cecil Frederick, on behalf of the Planning and Development Authority. Other stakeholder organisations that signed the CQA Charter were:
Bankers Association of Grenada, Construction Association of Grenada, Grenada Building and Loan Association Grenada Bureau of Standards Grenada Institute of Professional Engineers Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commerce Grenada Cooperative League Ltd. Grenada Development Bank
Representatives of the Grenada Institute of Architects, the Association of Grenada Insurance Cos. and the National Insurance Scheme were unable to attend the launch. However, since then these three organisations have become signatories to the CQA Charter.
The Programme, which was launched in August 2006, was a collaborative effort by the Organisation of American States and the ARD, with $70,000 (US) in funding from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
